Insect control: how to get rid of insects at home and at work
Why insects come back after household sprays, which control methods work and how professional treatment goes.
What insect control is
Insect control (disinsection) means eliminating insects that harm health, food and property: cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, ants, flies, mosquitoes and ticks. It is carried out indoors and outdoors.
Why insects come back
- Eggs and nymphs. Many products don’t affect eggs: a cockroach ootheca and bed bug eggs are protected by a shell. A new generation appears a few weeks later.
- Hiding places. By day insects sit in cracks, behind skirting, in furniture seams and appliances — household sprays don’t reach them.
- Neighbours. In apartment blocks cockroaches and bed bugs move through risers, ventilation and stairwells.
- Tolerance. Using the same product for a long time leaves the toughest insects alive.
Control methods
- Spraying — the product is applied along insect routes and hiding places.
- Targeted treatment — skirting boards, furniture seams, areas around pipes and appliances.
- Gels and baits — for cockroaches and ants: insects carry the product back to the nest.
- Hot fogging — for basements, warehouses and complex sites.
- Outdoor treatment — against ticks, mosquitoes and midges, with vehicle-mounted equipment.
How we work
- We identify the insect and the level of infestation — this decides the product.
- We find the sources and entry routes.
- We treat every source, not just where insects were seen.
- We tell you when you can return and how to clean afterwards.
- If needed, a scheduled repeat treatment against insects hatching from eggs.
Prevention
- Don’t leave food and water out overnight.
- Seal gaps around pipes and skirting, fit mesh on vent grilles.
- Check belongings and furniture after trips and second-hand purchases.
- For businesses — scheduled insect control with acts for inspections.
